A construction company is putting up a billboard in Canberra to highlight the importance of its workforce

Posted January 09, 2020 14:36:16 Construction company KPMG has erected a billboard outside a Canberra shopping centre which highlights the importance and value of its workers.

Key points:KPMG’s construction firm is the country’s largest, and employs more than 100,000 peopleA large portion of the company’s work is carried out by workers from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communitiesThe billboard is part of a project to highlight “the importance and importance of our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders”Construction company KPRT has erected the billboard outside the Sydney Airport, near the new Terminal 1 on Airport Road in Sydney’s CBD.

Key messages on the billboard include:”The importance and significance of our Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders to the future of the Australian economy””The Australian Government’s efforts to support the construction industry are vital to Australia’s economic success””KPMI has built more than 25,000 jobs over the past 15 years”KPRT’s CEO, Richard Kepel, said KPMI’s billboards are “an important part of the larger message to the Australian public”The billboard reads: “The importance of the Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islands to the country is paramount to Australia, and their contribution to the national economy is a central tenet of our Government’s economic strategy.”

It also includes a graphic detailing the company ‘s workforce of about 100,00 people.KPRG said the billboard would go up in about four weeks, and that it was funded by KPME.

The ABC understands the company is paying for the billboard with a $50,000 grant from the Government’s $1 billion Future of Infrastructure Fund.

“We’re proud to be part of KPMT’s long-term strategy of ensuring the Australian Government and the community it serves are prepared to invest in the future, in the new airport, in building the airport and in supporting our Indigenous communities in our communities,” Kepels said.

“The billboards are part of this broader strategic initiative that includes KPMW, which has been working with Aboriginal and New Zealand communities in the construction sector.”KPMT employs more staff than any other construction company in Australia.

It employs about 50,000 workers across Australia and employs around 1.4 million people.
