What is construction?
The construction industry is huge in Georgia.
According to a 2011 report by the Georgia Department of Commerce, the industry employed more than 1.8 million people in Georgia alone, and the state ranks second behind Texas in the size of its construction industry.
Georgia’s construction boom is also a source of controversy.
One group of local builders have been pushing for more transparency from construction companies.
In January 2017, the Georgia Building Trades Council (GBTC) filed a petition with the Georgia Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSHI) seeking more information about safety practices at construction sites.
The Georgia Department, which regulates the construction industry in Georgia, is considering a rule change that would require employers to include safety information on their construction applications.
Some critics say the new rule could make construction safer.
“It’s a great idea, but it’s not going to stop construction companies from doing what they do,” said Georgia House Speaker Mike McIntosh.
What’s going on in the construction field?
In the US, construction is growing, but so is the number of workers.
Construction is the fastest-growing occupation, with 3.7 million jobs added in the US in 2017, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The average age of construction workers is rising, but many of those workers are also older.
More and more young people are leaving the construction workforce.
An increasing number of companies are choosing to employ people who don’t have a college degree or are not well-qualified for construction jobs.
This makes it hard for younger workers to find jobs and for those who do find jobs to have to compete for them.
At the same time, the growth in construction jobs is pushing up wages for construction workers.
In 2017, construction workers in Georgia earned an average of $37,600 per year, according the BLS.
But according to construction company data, wages have actually declined in recent years.
Over the past five years, average wages in construction have dropped by 8.4%, according to a BLS analysis of Census Bureau data.
There is a lot of controversy about the construction sector.
Are there safety problems?
Construction has been a contentious industry for years, with the industry having been subject to numerous safety violations.
For instance, construction worker Daniel Johnson was injured when his crane fell on him in January 2017.
He said he was not wearing a harness, and that he could have avoided the incident if he had not stepped onto the crane and was injured.
Johnson sued the company and the company settled with him in 2016.
Another worker died after his rig was crushed in a 2013 construction accident.
A worker at a construction site was injured in October 2017 when he fell from a ladder while fixing a leaky roof.
These incidents have made headlines, and there are a lot more that could be added.
How many construction jobs are there in Georgia?
According the BLL, Georgia’s construction industry employs more than 2.4 million workers.
The BLS also reports that Georgia has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the country, at 9.9% among workers aged 16 to 24.
