Why did the government spend $1.6 million on an old ‘dune buggy’?

In a statement issued Friday, the Department of Transportation said it has spent about $1,500 on the “new’ Jeep Wrangler, but the department didn’t specify when the new vehicle will be released.

The agency said the vehicles will be leased for six months.

The statement also noted that the $1 million cost was “for an entirely new Jeep Wranglers production vehicle.”

On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that the Department and the Ford Motor Company have agreed to spend $2.5 million on a “new Wrangler” to replace its aging model.”

This is a highly significant upgrade to the Jeep’s driving characteristics, and our goal is to continue improving the Jeep and ensure it becomes a great vehicle for everyday drivers,” the statement said.
